U2 Disappointed At Lack Of Hits

Bono and co blame changes in the music business...

U2 have revealed that they are disappointed by the lack of hits from their last album, but put the blame on changes in the music industry.

"We weren't really in that mindset," Bono told Associated Press when asked about the poor performance of 'Get On Your Boots', 'Magnificent' and 'I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy'. "We felt that the album was a kind of an almost extinct species, and we should approach it in totality and create a mood and a feeling, and a beginning, middle and an end. And I suppose we've made a work that is a bit challenging for people who have grown up on a diet of pop stars."

"What is rock 'n' roll in this changing world?" asked bassist Adam Clayton. "Because, to some extent, the concept of the music fan — the concept of the person who buys music and listens to music for the pleasure of music itself — is an outdated idea."

The comments follow the revelation that the band's current 360 Tour has yet to make a profit, while last night's show at the Pasedena Rose Bowl was streamed live on YouTube.

  1. the public have the right to vote with their feet and not to buy.....because the content being offered to them (this holistic album) is not relevant and of poor quality...how arrogant to see this result of rock & roll economics as anything else Bono.
