Metallica’s James Hetfield Stages Recovery

added 11 March 2009 at 09.36

The Metallica frontman is on the mend and puts the Swedish cancellation down to a rogue oyster or a 24hr virus.

James Hetfield has posted on the Metallica website and apologised for the recent cancellation in Stockholm. Metal’s alpha male, it seems, has almost recovered and is apologetic for blowing out the show.

He said:

“[I’m] alive, at about 80% but getting better. I want to say sorry for missing the second Stockholm gig on Sunday due to illness. The cause/diagnosis at the hospital was narrowed down to either a 24hr virus or a bad oyster...yes, hate to admit, an oyster could have taken me down”.

The frontman went on to joke about the rogue oyster:

“On a lighter note since my illness, the support band 'Swedish Oyster Cult' will be thrown off the tour. More Cowbell?...More barf bagz!!”
