Metallica To Headline New Knebworth Festival

Yes, we predicted this as well, but Linkin Park are also on the bill of the first ever Sonisphere Festival which is set to bring the rock back to Knebworth.
As we previously reported, Metallica will headline a brand new festival at Knebworth Park this summer. Linkin Park will also headline one of the nights at the new Sonisphere Festival, which will take place on August 1 and 2.
Seemingly set-up in direct competition with Download, Sonisphere’s organisers have had a veiled swipe at the other rock festival which takes place at Donington Park. Sonisphere’s press release reads:
“SONISPHERE is about QUALITY rather than squeezing as many bands as possible onto multiple stages and forcing fans to choose between performers. SONISPHERE will feature bands of the highest calibre performing on two alternate stages; meaning you won’t have to miss any music; thereby solving a recurring complaint from rock fans at other events”.
The bitching doesn’t stop there either:
“With Donington Park’s traditional infield arena being dug up and converted into an F1 venue for the British Grand Prix, the centre of the UK rock universe is set to shift to Knebworth once again”.
Sonisphere will also be the first rock festival to tour internationally with other sites already set-up in Holland, Germany, Spain, Sweden and Finland.
