Jason Newsted To Rejoin Metallica

...But only for a one-off Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame appearance.
Metallica are to reunite with former bassist Jason Newsted - but for one night only. The band are to be indicted into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame on April 4, and guitarist Kirk Hammett confirmed that the old line-up would perform. And it's all down to what happened with Blondie.
The metal titans were in the room in 2006 when Black Sabbath were inducted, alongside the new wave legends. There was an unpleasant incident when former members of Blondie asked to perform, but were turned down by Debbie Harry.
"It puts a really bad, sour note on the whole celebration itself," said Hammet of the incident. "There was so many politics and so much drama that, you know, we collectively said to each other, 'We don't want any of that'. Jason Newsted will be there, and he will be playing with us at one point."
Newsted joined the band in 1986, following the death of original bassist Cliff Burton in 1986. He left the band 14 years later after a disagreement over side-projects and also "the physical damage I have done to myself over the years while playing the music that I love."
