Iggy Pop "Not Insured", Say Advert Watchdog

The Ig's insurance promos have been deemed "misleading"...

Iggy Pop's recent car insurance ads have been called "misleading" by the Advertising Standards Authority. Swiftcover used the veteran Stooges frontman in TV and poster campaign for their car insurance service, but the ASA has rapped the company because they apparently didn't provide cover for musicians when the ads ran.

The ASA, who vet all commercials in the UK, have ruled that Iggy's appearance could have led "some viewers to believe the policy covered those who worked in entertainment, when it did not".

It was also revealed that Mr Pop did not hold a policy with Swiftcover either. However, Swiftcover claimed that Ig was chose for his "fast-living lifestyle" rather than his profession, according to the BBC, and that the company now provided insurance cover for musicians.
