Glastonbury To Celebrate 2010 Festival In Style?

added 29 June 2009 at 13.31

What will the festival's 40th birthday have in store? The speculation starts here...

With the dust settling on the 2009 festival, speculation is already rife as to how Glastonbury will mark its 40th birthday next year. Already, Michael Eavis has been dropping hints that he's already booked some of 2010's main acts.

"We’ve got one or two headliners that haven’t played for a few years," he explained at his traditional Sunday morning press conference. "And there are one or two that have never played here. But I’m not going to tell you names for that one, it will be the same old guessing game. It will not be better than this year - it'll be a good show, but it has been fantastic with Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen."

Back in March, daughter Emily told BBC 6music that the festy's ruby anniversary would be marked with a selection of classic artists from the last four decades.

"We want to have a band from every year on the Pyramid Stage," she revealed. "We'll have a lot of the biggest performances on some of the tiniest stages."

2009's event has already been hailed as a huge success - partly because it wasn't the expected mudbath and partly because the Eavises had concentrated on booking some stellar (and hugely experienced) acts as headliners. Veterans Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen were line-up alongside the newly-reformed Blur as Pyramid Stage attractions.
