The Fratellis Back Teenage Cancer Unit

Scottish rock trio The Fratellis have launched a £350,000 appeal for the building of a new unit for teenage cancer patients in their hometown of Glasgow. The band are fellow Glaswegians to give what they can.
Visiting young fans at the city's Beatson West Of Scotland Cancer Center, Barry and Jon Fratelli spoke of the need for a second centre for young cancer sufferers.
Bassist Barry said: "It's such fantastic news that a second Teenage Cancer Trust unit is planned for Glasgow, but we really need to see the money start rolling in.
"The charity needs £350,000 to go ahead with their plans, all of which they have to raise in Scotland."
The Fratellis showed their support for the charity by recently playing a Teenage Cancer Trust gig at London's Royal Albert Hall.
He added: "We've seen first hand the difference that a Teenage Cancer Trust unit makes to the lives of teenagers and young people - the facilities on offer are amazing.
"Every young person with cancer in Scotland should have access to a unit, so I, and the rest of the band, would like to ask everyone to put their hands in their pockets and get involved. Every penny counts."
Provided the money is successfully raised, the six bed unit is expected to open in early 2009.
