Arcade Fire Taking Their Time On New Album

Canada’s most baroque have let slip they “have no idea” what they’re working on for their much-anticipated third LP…

Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler has revealed the band are taking their time over their next studio-album, feeling no pressure to have it ready for a certain date.

He told Pitchfork: “It’s been really rewarding over the last couple months to not have to be like, ‘OK guys, we’re gonna make a new record, it’s gonna take six months, we’re recording in this studio.’

“It’s like, ‘We have no idea what we’re doing, but I feel like playing with you this afternoon, so how about we have some tea and play songs for a little bit.’”

However, Butler’s ensemble, who release a film - ‘Miroir Noir’ - documentating their 2007 album ‘Neon Bible’ in March, admitted he didn’t want as long a gap between their debut, ‘Funeral’, and ‘Neon Bible'.

“I mean, I don’t think any of us want to spend three years making a new record. But after the last five years, I think it’s been super healthy for us to just stay at home, tend our gardens, and actually have a real life… I think we’re all really excited.”
