Van Halen Reunion Back On (Again)

added 14 August 2007 at 16.01

The mighty Van Halen are back, reincarnating for a two month Autumn tour, with original frontman Dave Lee Roth back at the helm for the first time in more than two decades.

Van Halen confirmed details of their looooooong awaited reunion tour at a press conference at the Four Seasons ballroom stage in Los Angeles this morning (August 14).

The band - who were inducted in the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame earlier this year - kick off their 25 date US tour on September 27 in Charlotte, North Carolina with tickets available from Saturday August 18 by clicking here.

Original frontman 'Diamond' Dave Lee Roth - who left the band back in 1985 - lead the proceedings, strutting onto the stage to the sound of their classic hit 'Jump' alongside the rest of the band: Eddie Van Halen, his brother Alex and son Wolfgang.

Kicking off the press conference - which Lee Roth admited no one "Ever thought would happen, certainly not while we were still young, skinny and good looking" - the singer turned to Eddie and gave him a warm embrace with the guitarist in turn calling Lee Roth his "new brother".

Insisting that this was not a reunion but a "New band, with a whole new sound" Diamond introduced Wolfgang Van Halen - who replaces original bassist Michael Anthony -  telling press "Wolf brings a young energy and spirit to this that’ll knock you out of your socks. It’s all intact, the same sh*tty attitude with an all new look."

But Lee Roth insisted that unlike other band's one-off nostalgia jaunts this was just the beginning, with more tours and possibly albums set to follow.

Fans are also being offered the chance to experience the ultimate Van Halen experience including concert pre-show parties, backstage access, premium seating and more. To find out how click here.
