Editors On 'In This Light And On This Evening'

Tom Smith and Ed Lay talk John Kennedy through their new album.
Editors third album 'In This Light And On This Evening' gets the album playback treatment. X-posure's John Kennedy is joined by singer/guitarist Tom Smith and drummer Ed Lay to talk through their latest offering.
Freaked out by their new direction? Loving the synths? The pair talk through the inspiration behind their new opus. You can listen to the full hour-long interview again, right here:
Has it all changed for Editors since their last album? Tom talks about becoming a Dad and Ed mentions he’s getting married. They also kick off their discussion by talking through title track, ‘In This Light And On This Evening’
‘Bricks And Mortar’ and its gospel flavour gets the once-over.
First single ‘Papillon’ is discussed next, followed by the string and sample-laden ‘You Don’t Know Love’.
Ed and Tom talk about the influence of soundtracks on the new record. Depeche Mode also get a nod, particularly on next song ‘The Big Exit’. ‘The Boxer’ also gets introduced.
Ed and Tom admit ‘Like Treasure’ almost didn’t make the cut and talk about the politically charged ‘Walk The Fleet Road’.
The wonderfully titled ‘Eat Raw Meat = Blood Drool’ is next up, before ending the interview by discussing final track ‘Walk The Fleet Road’.
